Jessie Lloyd is an Australian First Nations performer, producer, and creative entrepreneur of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage. Since releasing her debut album “Other Side of the Room” (2014), Jessie has led a range of acclaimed creative projects and collaborations as singer, guitarist, bassist, and ukulele player. Reaching a wide audience of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, her Mission Songs Project has received wide critical acclaim, prompting challenging discussions and new shared understandings of Australian cultural and social histories.
Jessie is committed to promoting and progressing First Nations music in Australia. She is former CEO of Songlines Aboriginal Music (Melbourne) and South West Aboriginal Entertainment (Perth), organizations that advocate for greater recognition of contemporary Aboriginal performing arts and artists. Recently, she created a music series for National Indigenous Television (NITV), including ten episodes about the Mission Songs Project. Jessie believes in the capacity for First Nations music to shape more constructive relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Australia, and to create positive social change.
